In occasione dei 25 anni del Santuario Pelagos, si In occasione dei 25 anni del Santuario Pelagos, si è tenuto oggi a Montecarlo, presso il Museo Oceanografico di Monaco, il workshop tecnico-scientifico “Pelagos living-lab”. Nel programma, la presentazione dei 6 progetti scientifici finanziati dall’Accordo Pelagos e dei principali risultati dell’Accordo dalla sua firma nel 1999. Al centro della manifestazione anche le partnerships con la International Whaling Commission, e con INFO/RAC, con la firma dei relativi protocolli d’intesa. La manifestazione è stata realizzata con il supporto del Museo Oceanografico di Monaco e del Dipartimento delle Alpi Marittime Plan Méditerranée. Celebrating 25 Years of the Pelagos Sanctuary.
Today, in Monte Carlo at the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco, the technical-scientific workshop “Pelagos Living-Lab” took place. The program included presentations of the 6 scientific projects funded by the Pelagos Agreement, as well as the key results of the Agreement since its signing in 1999. The event also highlighted the partnerships with IWC (the International Whaling Commission) and INFO/RAC, with the signing of the memoranda of understanding.

Loggerhead turtles (Caretta caretta ) are frequent Loggerhead turtles (Caretta caretta ) are frequently spotted in our study area. This year, several even nested on the beaches of Liguria. Until a few years ago, this species only laid eggs in the southern Mediterranean. Le tartarughe Caretta caretta vengono avvistate spesso nella nostra area di studio. Quest’anno diverse hanno anche fatto il nido sulle spiagge della Liguria. New techniques allow the detection of a species' p New techniques allow the detection of a species' presence solely from the DNA traces it releases into the environment. The eWHALE project, funded by Biodiversa+ and coordinated by the University of Innsbruck, exploits the use of environmental DNA (eDNA) to monitor biodiversity.
