Highlights from the latest cruise: CSR 11

The cruise CSR11 on board of “Pelagos” was, in its own way, quite remarkable. From the very beginning, the weather forecast was not that encouraging: wave height from 1 to 5 meters, wind speed from 10 to 30 knots.

And yet, against the odds, a sighting of dolphins, immediately on the morning of the first day. The next days, when the weather finally got better, the crew was able to celebrate the 150th sighting of the season, and the 37th of common whales. One more group of striped dolphins with calves was also spotted during the week.

And finally… a common sandpiper “hitchhiking”, a cake with cream and chocolate made by Serena, and a fried pizza by the skipper Paul.

Thank you all for helping research and conservation of our seas!
