How to reach the project location

Cruises of the Cetacean Sanctuary Research (CSR) are leaving every monday from Sanremo, Italy

Boarding is in the harbour of Portosole, Sanremo (Imperia), where our boat, “Pelagos“,  is moored. Sanremo is a small town located along the Italian Riviera, a few km from the Italy-France border. It can be reached by train, by car, or by plane.

The information below must be considered as indicative, and alternative travel options do exist.

Once you arrive in Sanremo go to the harbour Portosole at the address: Via del Castillo # 17.

The research boat is usually moored at peer B # 22.

By plane

The closest international airports are Nice (France), about 60 km to the west, and Genova (Italy), about 140 km to the east. From both airports there are bus services to the train station, where it is possible to catch a train to Sanremo. Several national airlines and low-cost airlines fly to Genoa and/or Nice from all over Europe.

To Sanremo by train

There are frequent trains connecting the French Riviera with Genova and northern Italy, stopping in Sanremo. From the Sanremo train station, the harbour of Portosole can be reached on foot or by taxi.

To Sanremo by car

Sanremo can be reached also by car (on the highway take the Arma di Taggia or Sanremo exit). It is possible to leave the car very close to the harbour.
